Finance Manager - Mining
The Company
Our client is an ASX-listed miner that is about to enter its long-anticipated production phase at the end of 2025. Holding 100% owned and operated assets in Australia, they are headquartered in Sydney and are looking to establish a strong, motivated finance team.
The Role
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller it will have multiple touch points throughout the business as well as external outsourced providers.
It’s a really unique opportunity to join a business about to enter the full production phase, and with that will come numerous opportunities for the roles’ expansion and your career development. Initially however the role will still retain some transactional elements before the team expands. Initially, the role will be:
- Overseeing and managing all aspects of the finance department
- Managing end-of-month processes including ensuring the completion of the general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations and production of the P&L statements
- Reconciliation to and providing commentary around variance to budget
- Cashflow forecasting
- Review of the annual statutory accounts (currently outsourced)
- Submitting taxation returns such as BAS, FBT, and GST and liaison with external tax specialists
- Lead external audit processes and liaise with external auditors and banks to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Review of the outsourced Payroll function (ADP) to ensure that this outsourcing process runs smoothly and is completed accurately. Job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Review and approve all payroll payments
- Resolving payroll enquiries in a professional manner
- Ensure payroll information is appropriately archived
- Oversee the Accounts Payable function, ensuring all processes are followed and ensuring the accurate, efficient, and timely recording of transactions.
- Reviewing WIP project claims and ensuring all invoices are apportioned to the correct cost centres.
- Oversee Purchase Order allocations and swiftly resolve any issues/discrepancies.
- Plan and execute Vendor payments, fostering and maintaining strong supplier relationships
Your Background
To be considered for this Finance Manager position our client has asked us to consider candidates that:
- Are happy (especially initially) to roll up their sleeves in the transactional work
- Have come from project/construction style businesses especially those managing large CAPEX spends
- Mining/exploration company exposure would be a big advantage
- CA/CPA qualified
