Our client is a highly reputable school with locations in Sydney. They have a rich history, fantastic campuses and a progressive approach to education. Enjoy the energy & interaction of working on an educational campus.

They are currently in the midst of a finance transformation and have created new roles to support the vision & values of the organisation. This Financial Accountant role will be key to the smooth & efficient monthly & periodic reporting, as a key support to the Financial Controller and Senior Accountant.

You will also be involved as they look to automate their revenue reporting, implement new systems & streamline processes, which is all great experience to add to your resume!

The Role

This Financial Accountant role will report to the Financial Controller and be responsible for the following tasks: 

  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly financial reports covering balance sheet, profit and loss and internal management reports.
  • Preparing timely and accurate monthly reconciliations and detailed analysis for all Prepayments, Capital WIP, Land, Buildings, Property Plant & Equipment and other balance sheet accounts as delegated by the Financial Controller.
  • Assisting with the management of the Operating and Finance Lease assets and associated technical accounting.
  • Assisting with the management of the general ledger including overseeing the monthly balance sheet, banking, and fixed asset reconciliations. 
  • Completion of the monthly accruals, journals, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules. 
  • Monitoring, processing and payment of Employee and Credit Card Expense Claim Forms and automation when possible.
  • Assisting the Senior Accountant with FBT reporting obligations.
  • Assisting in the preparation of year-end statutory accounts.

Your Background

The right candidate for our client will:

  • Be fully CA or CPA qualified.
  • Have strong month-end reporting experience.
  • Currently be a Financial Accountant in a broad role.
  • Have great achievements in assisting on projects & automations in previous roles.
  • Have exceptional communication skills and be able to confidently represent finance to all levels of stakeholders within the business.
  • Be proactive, positive and keen to add value!
  • If you have been trained in an accounting firm earlier in your career that would be highly regarded.
