Company Background

Our client is a well-established medium-sized Information Technology/Managed Security Service Provider. As a respected player in their sector, they have continuing growth plans in place driven by an impressive SLT. Revenue has increased by over 40% over the last 3 years as the enterprise has evolved and entered new jurisdictions.

This Group Financial Controller opportunity is described by the CFO as a ‘career-defining role’. This CFO has an impressive pedigree, and you will act as their ‘right-hand person’ gaining exposure across all areas of finance. Your development and skillset will be lifted to new heights.

The Role

On offer is the chance to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function whilst being involved in a range of other interesting projects. You will have the chance to make a very real impact on how finance works with the business.

As Group Financial Controller you will work closely with the CFO who will involve you in an appealing variety of areas across the enterprise. Core duties you will take ownership of will include (not limited to): -

  • Directly manage a finance team of 4 staff locally and 2 offshore
  • Become a trusted business partner and ‘go-to’ person for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Take ownership of the global financial control function
  • Monthly financial reporting P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and working capital
  • Enforce company policies and Delegation of Authority controls, build key controls for financial reporting accuracy as and when required
  • Maintain relationships with Auditors, Tax Advisors and other stakeholders.
  • Preparation and audit of statutory accounts 
  • Assist with monthly Board presentation
  • Ownership of balance sheet reconciliation for the group
  • Maintain global taxation structure and compliance (with the support of an external Tax Advisor as required)
  • Preparation of tax returns with external accounting firm
  • Taxation compliance including BAS, FBT, IAS, annual tax returns
  • Ensure activities comply with relevant Acts, legal demands, and professional and ethical standards
  • Project management and automation of processes
  • Management of cash flow and operational cashflow forecasts
  • Drive and participate in process improvement initiatives and setting up of robust internal controls for the finance function

Your Background

To be considered for this Group FC role, you will meet the following criteria: -

  • Professionally qualified, e.g. CA, CPA, CIMA, ACCA (or equivalent)
  • Possesses a strong financial control background coupled with proven commercial nouse to understand the ‘Why?’ behind the numbers.
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced and growing, medium to large-sized technology or managed services enterprise
  • Direct staff management experience
  • Professional track record demonstrating both achievement and progression
  • Prior involvement in process improvement and/or systems projects
  • Worked in a role covering multiple jurisdictions
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills are a pre-requisite
