P/T Accountant - Charity

Company Background

Our client is a pillar of the community. They are proud to have over 20 years of experience in supporting people facing homelessness, DV, trauma, mental health challenges & addiction.

They are looking at new programs and revenue streams, including government funding, as they expand their reach. This role will support the board & CEO to streamline and improve the finance function as they enter this next phase.

You would join a team of incredibly dedicated, passionate and determined staff who work holistically to address each client's challenges. Some WFH flexibility may be on offer.

The Role

This Accountant role is part-time. Most likely three days a week, but they would like someone who can work up to four days over busy periods.

Responsibilities will include: -

  • Full-function Accounts payable – overheads and expenses Submitting to the CEO fortnightly for approvals
  • Monthly and quarterly BAS & GST
  • Monitor & process donations through the website or bank deposits. Donor receipting
  • Month-end preparation and P&L reporting through Xero. Analysis and commentary for cost centres
  • Processing payroll, superannuation and other associated payments
  • Key point of contact for audits. Assisting to coordinate all required information & apply any suggested amendments/controls
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Maintenance of donor and client base

The CEO also has a strong preference for someone who can review their internal controls, cost centre allocations, and cash flow reporting and make improvements. Some new management reports & transparency around the key financials are highly desirable.

Your Background

This would be a fantastic role for someone who has a wealth of experience and is looking for a role that provides a sense of purpose! The key requirements are: -

  • An Accountant who can take full responsibility for the P&L, analysis, and cash flow reporting but is also happy to be hands-on with the payroll, AP and reconciliations
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to provide meaningful reports to the CEO
  • Strong alignment to the organizational values & ethics
  • Proven examples on your resume of your ability to improve processes, streamline workflows, and implement internal controls
  • Ideally, we are also looking for someone with Charity/not-for-profit industry experience
