Senior Group Accountant - Renewables

Company Background

One of Australia’s leading renewables businesses, backed by one of the world’s largest Infrastructure players, is significantly expanding their local footprint with multiple acquisitions of solar, wind and battery assets. To support their targeted and ambitious growth plans, the Senior Management team and Board have identified the need for a technically sound Senior Financial Accountant to assist with the consolidated and technical reporting for the business and its multiple entries. 

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, this role will be critical in providing technical accounting / reporting in a highly complex and inquisitive business. More specifically the role will be responsible for the: 

Financial accounting and reporting

  • Managing day-to-day accounting activities and month-end process for assets, corporate and entities
  • Profit & Loss preparation and analysis
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assisting with the preparation of month-end group reporting including consolidations, reconciliations, and analysis of group results
  • Assisting with the preparation of group statutory reports and compliance deliverables according to legislations or debt covenants
  • Assisting with managing technical accounting areas, including but not limited to lease, fixed assets, valuations, financial instruments, M&A etc.

Tax accounting and admin

  • Maintenance of tax calendar and lodgments register including tracking lodgment obligations and due dates for all entities
  • Review and lodgment of Australian business activity statements
  • Assisting in the preparation of Australian income tax returns
  • Assisting in the tax-effect accounting calculations for the group
  • Maintain tax fixed asset register
  • Liaising with ATO regarding company tax account balances

Project management and forecasting

  • Managing JV investments
  • Assisting with budgeting & forecasting process
  • Project-based work such as costing, reporting, internal control and system implementation

Background

To be considered for the Senior Group Accounting role, our client is targeting a candidate who is genuinely excited to establish themselves in a newly created technical and reporting role. Best placed to make this role successful are candidates that have:

  • Broad, technical experience ideally from a Corporate / Group environment 
  • Ideally worked within large, complex businesses (such as within capital intense industries, such as Energy, Utilities, Infrastructure, Mining or Property)
  • Recognised qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commercial coupled with CA / CPA (or equivalent)
