You will generally find a Company Accountant in smaller organisations. As a result, they are generally responsible for a variety of tasks combining both financial and management accounting including the monthly production of accounts, BAS, PAYG, payroll and other management reporting. It may also encompass Accounts Payable and Receivable.
Company Accountants are often found in smaller companies and have a thorough knowledge of accounting or bookkeeping. You will require a degree/diploma and a professional qualification to perform the full remit of the role and the ability to take on the responsibility and accountability for the broader finance function.
There are two paths for your qualifications. The first is to complete a 3-year degree and then study for your CPA or CA which takes approximately 2 - 3 years. The second route is to enrol in a CIMA or ACCA program after you have finished school which often takes four years.
A Company Accountant can expect to earn between $80K - $120K + Super depending on experience and the size of the organisation.
